Ingredients
- 1 kilogram Strong bread flour
- 3 teaspoons Salt
- 3 tablespoons Oil
- 300 millilitres Milk
- 300 milligrams Hot water
- 60 millilitres Yogurt
- 42 grams Fresh yeast
- 3 tablespoons Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Onion seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a jug add the hot water, milk, sugar, yogurt mix well. Check the mixture is not too hot it should be warm. Crumble in the yeast and stir well.
- In the stand mixer bowl add the flour, salt and oil.
- Add all the liquid to the flour and with the dough hook attachment start the food processor on slow for 30 seconds. With a spatula bring in the flour from the edges to the middle and run the mixer until the dough comes together to form a ball and the edge of the bowl comes clean.
- Remove the dough hook, brush the dough with oil and cover with cling film. Leave to rise until doubled in size this could take up to an hour or more depending on how warm your kitchen is.
- Punch down the dough to remove air. Place the dough on a floured surface and divide into 16 equal portions. Form each portion into a ball shape.
- Roll each ball into approximately 10 inch diameter it does not have to be exact.
- Place a non stick pan on medium heat. Gently place the naan into the hot pan and allow to cook until you see bubbles forming Gently place the rolled out naan in the hot pan and cook until the bottom turns slightly golden. Flip over the naan to cook the other side. Flip once more to make sure naan is cooked and there are no raw bits of dough and the naan is fully cooked.
- Remove from pan brush with butter and sprinkle with zatar. (optional) Cove with a tea towel to keep warm while you make the rest of the naans.
